part 12 of ...
KALLAKURICHI
Wonderful and sweet grandparents on his mother's side of the family.
Here, I heard stories about Amjith's childhood - like how he used to run around this house in his bare bottom. All. the. time.
A young coconut as part of the Pooja (Puja) room, in celebration of Pongal.
A lotus in their doorway - it's that great?!
Going up to the roof. Doesn't he look huggable?
View from the roof.
We got to stay in a secret room. It was cool. B-)
Wii tennis? Nope! Mosquito zapper.
Elango-mama's bike shop. Need new rims?
Sugar cane time!
Arunprakash enjoying a piece sugarcane.
Aaranyan. Sugracane = moment of happiness
The first time I held a cricket ball in my hands! :)
L to R: Latha-athai (aunt) , me, Arunprakash, Amjith, Elango-mama (uncle)
picture with Amjith's grandmother's sister - grand auntie ;)
*Amjith family trivia: He grew up knowing his great-great-grandmother (oh yeah, that's his grandma's grandma), who only passed away when he was 15 years old!!
When someone leaves your house, it is customary to send them off with a little something.
First they put some kumkum on your forehead (red powder to dot your third eye), and in this case, a gift of bananas, betel leaf, areca nuts, fresh flowers for your hair (wrapped with string in the leaf), and typically, some cash.
